The inter-tribal conflict between the Lou Nuers and Murles in the South Sudan’s Jonglei state affected an estimated 140,000 people. In December last year, armed men from the Lou Nuer tribe attacked villages of Murle in which many lives were claimed, thousands of homes burnt and basic infrastructures destroyed. In the second week of February 2012, what appeared to be retaliatory attack by the Murle broke out and as a result an estimated 15,000 Lou Nuers have fled in to Ethiopia. IOM is providing safe and dignified transportation assistance for the affected in Gambella region.

As of June 14, More than 8900 refugees have been transported from Gambella Way station to Fugnido camp. The Gambella Way station is closed and there are no new arrivals.
